Used Bottling Plants: Collection and Sale
We enhance the value of your used plant
In addition to the design and construction of new wine bottling plants and bottling plants for spirits, Villardi also deals with the sale of used bottling plants.
When business needs change, it is not always desirable to upgrade the plant already in use, nor is it always possible to do so, especially if it has been designed as a “closed system”, meaning it cannot be modified. In such cases, Clients turn to us not only to request the design of a new open system (i.e. one that can be modified in the future), but also for the collection of their existing plant, therefore the collection of used equipment.
Thanks to our carefully selected network of intermediaries, we are able to place used machinery on the international market, without limiting ourselves to the Italian market.
When the used equipment in our possession is particularly valuable or aligned with our Clients’ requirements, we can offer it directly as an alternative to new plants.
The two methods for selling used plants
The offering of used plants always involves two alternatives, and it is the Client who will decide which to adopt:
- “As seen and approved” formula: in this case, the plant is sold and delivered as it is, without any type of modification. This occurs when the used bottling plant perfectly meets the company’s requirements;
- Pre-delivery revisions or modifications: prior to delivery, the Client may request updates to the plant. In this case, the modifications are essential to ensure it complies with the production line and to adapt it as effectively as possible to the company’s needs. Therefore, this involves a limited degree of customisation of a used plant.

Compliance with health and safety regulations
All bottling plants, whether for wines or spirits, must comply with precise regulations concerning food safety and worker safety.
From a health perspective, machines must guarantee the use of materials suitable for contact with foodstuffs (EC Regulation 1935/2004 and subsequent amendments), effective sanitisation processes (CIP and SIP) and compliance with HACCP standards. Adherence to these regulations ensures the hygiene of the finished product and consumer protection.
With regard to occupational safety, bottling plants must comply with the Machinery Directive 2006/42/EC (now Machinery Regulation 2023/1230) and the related standards governing protective devices, interlocks, ergonomics and emergency stop systems.
Depending on the product and the substances handled, other regulations may also apply, such as ATEX (for environments with high-alcohol-content atmospheres), noise regulations and electrical safety standards.
Each project is developed with meticulous attention to integrating these rules, ensuring that all plants comply with current legislation, are safe for operators and reliable in guaranteeing high-quality products.
